Damon Tweedy is an American physician and author best known for his book "Black Man in a White Coat: A Doctor's Reflections on Race and Medicine." In this memoir, Tweedy explores the intersection of race and medicine, based on his experiences as an African American in the predominantly white field. He attended Duke University School of Medicine and completed his residency in psychiatry at Duke Hospital. In addition to writing, he is an assistant professor of psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center and a staff psychiatrist at the Durham VA Medical Center.
