Martin Sixsmith

Martin Sixsmith is a British author, journalist, and radio presenter, best known for his work as a foreign correspondent and his involvement with the British government. Born on September 24, 1954, Sixsmith studied at Harvard University as well as at Oxford University, where he earned a degree in Russian and Philosophy. Over his career, Sixsmith has worked with the BBC as a foreign correspondent, reporting from countries including Russia, Poland, and the United States. He covered major historical events, including the end of the Cold War and the political transformation of Eastern Europe. Sixsmith also served as the Director of Communications for the British Department of Health, a role that ended in controversy, leading him back to writing and broadcasting. He has written several books, both fiction and non-fiction, including "The Lost Child of Philomena Lee," which tells the true story of a woman's search for her son who was taken from her by the Catholic Church in Ireland and sold for adoption. The story was adapted into the award-winning film "Philomena" in 2013. Martin Sixsmith continues to contribute to the public discourse through his writing, broadcasting, and speaking engagements.
