Peter Singer is an Australian moral philosopher and bioethicist, best known for his book Animal Liberation (1975). He is currently the Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University and Laureate Professor at the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics at the University of Melbourne. He is also a co-founder of the Great Ape Project, an animal rights organization. Singer's work has focused on the ethics of our treatment of animals, the sanctity of life, famine relief, and the human consequences of technological advances.
