Ronnie Spector

Ronnie Spector was an American singer who gained fame in the 1960s as the lead singer of the girl group the Ronettes. Born Veronica Yvette Bennett on August 10, 1943, in New York City, she was known for her powerful voice and distinctive look, characterized by her beehive hairstyle and heavy eye makeup. With the Ronettes, she produced hits like "Be My Baby," "Baby, I Love You," and "Walking in the Rain," which became emblematic of the Phil Spector Wall of Sound production style. Ronnie Spector's emotional vocal delivery made her one of the most influential and revered voices in pop music. Later in her career, she continued to record and perform, sometimes embracing a more rock-oriented sound. Despite a tumultuous personal life, including a difficult marriage to producer Phil Spector, Ronnie remained an iconic figure in music until her passing on January 12, 2022.
