Tan Twan Eng is a Malaysian-born novelist and short story writer. He is best known for his 2012 novel The Garden of Evening Mists, which won the 2012 Man Asian Literary Prize and the 2013 Walter Scott Prize. His other works include The Gift of Rain (2007) and The Heresy of Love (2013). Tan's writing is often described as lyrical and meditative, exploring themes of memory, loss, and identity.
