V.M. Hillyer (1875-1955) was an American author, poet, and educator. He is best known for his 1926 novel, The Story of Rolf and the Viking's Bow, which was adapted into a play and later made into a movie. Hillyer wrote numerous books of poetry, short stories, and essays, and was a professor of English at the University of Chicago. He was also a noted translator of classical works, including the Aeneid and the Odyssey.
