взаимодействие фигур и пешек в шахматной партии This 48 page pamphlet in Russian language covers an advanced topic in chess middlegame practice. It is easily readable with the Google translate app. The book has worn covers and browning paper as usual from the poor quality paper used in the USSR. It is exceedingly rare. I paid about $15 for this 30 years ago. The only copy I could find for sale at a book search engine as of late April 2025 was $199! Buy my copy and save! From the preface by Botvinnik (from the Google translate app): V. Alatortsev's work "Interaction of Pieces and Pawns in a Chess Game" should not be considered as a comprehensive theoretical study of one of the sections of chess theory; most likely, it is an experiment in research. And not everything that the author has considered can be accepted unconditionally. It seems to me, for example, that it would be more successful to divide the interaction of pieces and pawns into positional (static) and dynamic (in motion, in variations), rather than into simple tactical and strategic, as the author has adopted. Other solutions are probably possible. Despite this, the work is undoubtedly of interest. The study is interesting not only because it gives impetus to theoretical work in this area. First of all, the study is interesting because it was conducted by a postgraduate student of the Central Research Institute of Physical Culture V. Alatortsev, who is one of our outstanding chess practitioners and theorists. This is a new phenomenon in the field of chess, and all chess players can only welcome it. There is no doubt that the brochure will be read with interest by our methodologists, theoreticians and qualified chess players. M. Botvinnik
